How challenges can strengthen your relationship

One of the most frequently-voiced complaints that we hear from clients and students (and admittedly, it tends to be women who we hear it from) is, “He won’t talk to me,” or, “I can’t get him to open up. No matter what I do, I don’t get anything more than a one-word response,” or, “I’m so frustrated, I could scream.”
No one likes to hear bad news but the truth is that the consequences of refusing to listen or talk about upsetting issues can be far more painful and damaging than the experience of discussing them.

If a random guy came up to you right now and gave you 1 million pounds and walked away, what would you do?
Realistically you would probably go after the guy and try to thank him, or maybe even ask him, “why are you giving me this money?” Because you feel grateful for what he’s done or you feel that you’ve gotten something so amazing so surely he must want something in return?
Abandoned children caught up in Syria’s bloody war fending for themselves by picking up crumbs of bread from the floor to eat, whilst your dustbin probably eats more than these poor waifs. A different perspective on “Give us this day our daily bread.” Truly haunting. Their final message to the world who abandoned them… “May you be happy and blessed with what God has given you!”
