Last week, The New York Times’ Rukmini Callimachi published “A Theology of Rape,” a report as important as it is horrifying. Unfortunately, like several recent exposés on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), including Graeme Wood’s website-busting What ISIS Really Wants, Callimachi’s reporting is unusually receptive to the movement’s claims. Namely, that plausible Islamic arguments can be made for slavery, rape, and other crimes.

In support of his own argument that ISIS isn’t just “Islamic,” but “very Islamic,” Wood cited Princeton academic Bernard Haykel who insists that anyone who denies ISIS’ Islamic authenticity is being disingenuous (who says this is never elaborated on). Wood then proceeded to analyze ISIS’ “Islamicity” based almost entirely on Haykel, several fringe Muslim scholars, ISIS sympathizers, and no mainstream voices.

Today, there are over 500 million Muslims throughout the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh), making it one of the largest population centers of Muslims in the world. Since Islam first entered India, it has contributed greatly to the area and its people. Today, numerous theories about how India came to be such a largely Muslim land exist. Politically, some (such as the Hindutva movement in India) try to make Islam seem foriegn to India, by insisting it only exists because of invasions by Arab and Persian Muslims. The truth, however, is far from that.

Being An Antiwar Activist In Israel Is Dangerous (Video)

info-pictogram1 Being an antiwar activist in Israel is dangerous. Israelis who protested against the 2014 Gaza offensive were threatened, harassed and attacked. Some even lost their jobs. Yoav Eliassi, also known as “The Shadow,” is a right-wing rapper and driving force behind a movement to stamp out dissent in Israeli society.

In many countries, a yearly address is given to highlight the current status of society such as the State of the Union address delivered annually by the President of the USA.  These addresses tend to focus on economics as economics is the largest factor in voting and politics, as though money is not a measure of happiness in life, it correlates with political satisfaction.  Yet, as Muslims striving in the cause of Allah Allah Subhanahu-wa-Taala , we should have our own criterion to determine if our society is in a positive state or in a .  We should not depend on rulers or mass media which are not always honest or may be under coercive measures and far from independent, to avoid bias or false perceptions.

Hatred and Racism from Right Winged Extremists in Europe cannot stop the growth and beauty of Islamic culture and people!

Despite the anti-Islam marches in Dresden, Germany and the attacks on Masjids in France, the positive light of Islam will continue to shine!

Muslims are in key, strategic positions throughout society and cannot be lumped into a small, fanatical cult.
Our challenge is to maintain the “Balance” and convert our emotions into positive energy. Almighty Allah is Witness to all affairs and has power over all things

Look at the classical, beauty and the European Muslim style of the Scwetzingen Castle Mosque built in 1779. Its the oldest standing masjid in Germany and still open for Prayer! Allahu Akbar Forever!

“But If Not”- Martin Luther King

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has been observed on the third Monday of every January in the U.S., since 1983. A spokesperson, and a community leader of the 1960’s before his assassination in 1968, he fought for justice for his people, and on a national level,  which can serve to remind us why we are here on this earth.

“I say to you, this morning, that if you have never found something so dear and precious to you that you will die for, then you aren’t fit to live.

You may be 35 years old, as I happen to be, and one day, some great opportunity stands before you and calls upon you to stand for some great principle, some great issue, some great cause,  But you refuse to do it because you are afraid.

You refuse to do it because you want to live longer. You’re afraid that you will lose your job, or you are afraid that you will be criticized or that you will lose your popularity, or you’re afraid that somebody will stab or shoot you or bomb your house. So you refuse to take a stand.

Well, you may go on and live until you are ninety, but you are just as dead at 35 as you would be at ninety.

And the cessation of breathing in your life is but the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit. You died when you refused to stand up for right. You died when you refused to stand up for truth. You died when you refused to stand up for justice.”

-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. From the sermon “But, If Not” delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church on November 5, 1967.
