Salāt al-Hājah (“Salāh of Need”) refers to performing two or more rak‘ats of optional salāh with the purpose of fulfilling one’s needs, whether followed by a du‘ā’ or not. This basic notion of Salāt al-Hājah is established in the sources of Sharī‘ah.

The higher objectives of the Sharia

By: Mateen A. Khan (translator)
Translators comment: Maqāsid al-Sharī‘ah refers to the set of objectives and goals which the Sharī‘ah strives to establish. For example, the preservation of faith, life, lineage, intellect and property are essential objectives of the Sharī‘ah as propagated by Imam al-Ghazālī. These objectives establish benefits (al-masālih) and remove harms (al-mafāsid) for the individual and community. However, we find that some misconstrue their place and derive rulings from the objectives while going against the primary textual evidences i.e. the Qur’an and Sunnah. For clarification, we turn towards a translated chapter from Usūl al-Iftā’[1] by Mufti Taqi Usmani (May Allah bless and preserve him) entitled Maqāsid al-Sharī‘ah.

PREFACE
All praise is due to Almight God, Allah. We praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. And we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our own selves and from our wicked deeds. Whosoever has been guided by Allah, there is none to misguide him. And whoseover has been misguided by Allah, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no other god except Allah, alone, without partner or associate. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. May Allah, the Exalted, bestow His peace and blessings on Prophet Muhammad, upon his good and pure family, as well as upon all of the noble companions and upon those who follow them in righteousness until the Day of Reckoning.
JIHAD, MARRIAGE & SHARIAH (STREET DAWAH IN MIDDLESBROUGH)
Source: Mission Dawah
Today on the Dawah Stall in Middlesbrough:
A man approached us before the Middlesbrough match, and quite calmly said he had a lot of problems with Islam, the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) and the Qur’an. His questions were:
1) Whats with you wanting to wage jihad on everyone, what is this Holy war?
2) Why did the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) marry A’ishah (ra) So young and why do people say you can do that now?
3) Why are trying to impose shariah law on us?
Alhamdulilah we answered all his questions and he walked away saying, why aren’t Muslims everywhere saying what your saying. Why are you the first Muslims I’ve heard say this. Shook our hands and walked away thinking better and actually agreeing with a lot of what Islam says.
This right here is dawah, in its simplest forms. Clarifying misconceptions about our religion and providing people with authentic Islam.
This is the importance of dawah. We should all be able to answer these questions in a effective and coherent manner. If anyone wants the answers to these let us know #ConveyTheMessage
