A Priceless Quote from a confident Muslim Woman

Nobel Peace Prize winner “Tawakkul Karman,” ‘The mother of Yemen’s revolution,’ when asked about her Hijab by journalists and how it is not proportionate with her level of intellect and education, replied:

“Man in early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is a regression back to the ancient times.”

France is mourning the death of 12 people after three suspected Islamist extremists attacked the Paris offices of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

The paper’s editor and cartoonists were all killed in the attack, believed to be in response to its historical publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohamed.

French president Francois Hollande condemned the shooting as an “act of indescribable barbarity”.

Joining the condemnation was France’s Muslim community. Imam Hassen Chalghoumi of the Drancy mosque in northern Paris arrived at the scene of the attack yesterday to say: “I am extremely angry. These are criminals, barbarians. They have sold their soul to hell. This is not freedom. This is not Islam and I hope the French will come out united at the end of this.”

One states that the Pyramid represents the command structure of the Illuminati organization, with the capstone symbolizing the Elite, with the most important members who are privy to all its secrets. The middle of the pyramid represents the various layers of society with the “masses” being at the bottom of the pyramid. IE. the base represents the uninitiated masses that the elite rule.

CRESCENT CHRONICLES | A BRIEF HISTORY OF MOONSIGHTING IN NORTH AMERICA

The city of Toronto has many distinctions; the CN Tower, Skydome – the crack smoking escapades of its mayor – just to name few. One distinction, unbeknownst to many, is the city’s unique position in Islamic history. Toronto is one of the few cities, if not the only, which hosts mosques that simultaneously follow all permutations of moonsighting opinions that have ever existed in Islam’s legal history; local sighting, global, Saudi-sighting, astronomical calculations – perhaps there are more. This represents a trend which has become common occurrence across much of the North America; Muslim communities split along lines of lunar dogmatism.

So, how did we get here? In 2006 the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) and Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) decided to switch to astronomical calculations, as opposed to moon sighting, as a means of tabulating the Islamic calendar. The unprecedented decision led to a considerable degree of controversy due to its unorthodoxy. However, what is not as well known is the history and the context which lead to this decision. I had the unique opportunity to sit with Shaykh Abdullah Idris Ali, former President of ISNA, who shared with me a brief history of the moonsighting methods employed and what eventually lead to the current climate.

Gaza City – When Elham Elzanin fled her home in Beit Hanoun, she only had time to grab her terrified children and evacuate. Now sheltering at a school in Gaza City, Elzanin’s nine-year-old daughter Nima cries over missing one of the sweetest parts of the Eid holiday: cake.

“I said to myself, ‘We ought to make the children feel the atmosphere of Eid, even if warplanes are bombing,'” Elzanin, 39, told Al Jazeera. She said that the idea quickly spread among the children seeking refuge with their families at al-Hud school, and soon, a group of mothers began baking.

“The Israelis should know they will not stop us [from] finding some joy in making Eid cake,” she said. The cake, she added, represents “resilience and resistance”.
