One of these relationships should not superimpose on another relationship and take you away from fulfilling its rights and responsibilities. A new episode of “That’s Messed Up” will be available every Monday.

Money or Knowledge

KNOWLEDGE

From the first moments after birth, a child begins to learn. Some children speak at the age of two and some; well before. But how does a baby learn when it doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong?

Knowledge is not only gained by mentally assigning yourself, it is also gained through features given by Allah Taa’la, i.e. the eyes and the ears etc. The correct use of these bounties that Allah Taa’la has bestowed upon us is another way of thanking Allah Taa’la for them.

Many people question the importance of knowledge. In a Hadith it states:

“It is compulsory on every Muslim to seek knowledge.”

This Hadith clarifies that to seek and obtain knowledge is compulsory for every Muslim, but what knowledge is regarded here?

Each human who can afford to study, complete their studies finishing with PhDs and Masters in particular subjects, the Hadith states, “On every Muslim.” What will be the difference between a Muslim and a non-Muslim if we all acquire the same knowledge? The emphasis on, “On every Muslim” in this Hadith indicates knowledge specific to a Muslim, which infers the Deen (Religion) of Allah.

Signs before the Day of Judgement

Allah, the Most High, said:

“They ask thee about the Hour, ‘When will be its appointed time?’ Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof? With thy Lord is the Limit fixed thereof. Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it. The Day they will see it, (it will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn!” [Al-Qur’an 79:42-46]

“They ask thee about the (final) Hour – when will be its appointed time? Say: ‘The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (alone): none but He can reveal as to when it will occur. Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth. Only, all of a sudden will it come to you.’ They ask thee as if thou were eager in search thereof: say: ‘The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone), but most men know not.’ ” [Al-Qur’an 7:187]

There are many ayat and ahadith concerning this subject: Allah said:

“The Hour (of Judgement) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder.” [Al-Qur’an 54:1]

The Prophet, upon whom be peace, said, whilst pointing with his index and middle fingers, “The time of my advent and the Hour are like these two fingers.” In another report he said, “The Hour almost came before me.” This indicates how close we are, relatively speaking, to the Hour.

Source: http://hadithoftheday.com/nouman-ali-khan/

Nouman Ali Khan is a young, dynamic daee, who approaches Islam in a sympathetic, understandable and practical way. He moved to the United States at a young age, and rediscovered the beauty of Islam while in college, from which he was motivated to learn it in greater depth. After studying Arabic in Saudi Arabia and later in Pakistan, he founded the Bayyinah Institute, under which he has successfully trained thousands to master the Arabic language.

While his dakwah activities are centred in the United States, his lecture sessions, which cover a variety of topics, are available on You Tube. His appeal largely stems from his ability to put religion in the relevant social context – his realistic approach and acknowledgement of the social background in which most people live – has made him popular especially among the young adults.

HOTD: What is your favourite surah/hadith?

Nowadays it’s Surah al Qasas.

HOTD: Which of the Companions of the Prophet do you identify closest with or is your favourite?

Mus’ab Ibn Umar Embassador of the Qur’an!

HOTD: Who are your modern day role models?

People you guys don’t know. Friends that are much older and have raised great children and I only wish to accomplish what they have with their kids.

HOTD: Someone wants to come back to Islam but doesn’t know where to start. What would you tell him?

The fact that they’re reading this means they already started. Talk to Allah and tell Him your situation. Ask Him for counsel. He will bring people and opportunities into your life you couldn’t even have imagined.

HOTD: What makes you stand out from other prominent dae’es is your relatively young age. What made you decide to take this path so early in life?
