Be fully human

Islam-and-Muslims

By: Yasmin Mogahed

Why is it that we refuse to accept the full human experience, the full design of the human experiment? We want the happiness without the sadness. The light, without the dark. The ease without the hardship. We want to learn to walk, without struggling through the falls. When a child learns to walk, the falls are part of the process. The fall is just as important as the rise. The slip of Adam was a lesson, not an oversight of God. God gives us the strength and the weakness. Not as an oversight, not as a flaw in the design. He gives us both because each part plays a purpose in our development, and our ultimate success. Don’t stunt the process of your growth but trying to limit the spectrum of the human plan. So many of us fear failure so much, that we are afraid to try. But reflect on this: was it through your successes or was it through your failures that you learned your deepest lessons? Our successes encourage us. But it is our failures that teach us. In life, we need both. Success gives us the encouragement and motivation to keep going, while failure, teaches us the difficult, often painful, but necessary, lessons we need to grow and fulfill our ultimate purpose.

The pineal gland is one of the smallest and most important endocrine glands in the body. Located in the center of the brain close to the more well-known pituitary gland, the pineal gland gets its name from its characteristic pine cone shape. It is also known as the pineal organ, the pineal body or the “third eye”. This small gland controls your body’s sleep-wake pattern. However, due to lots of factors, calcification of pineal gland can occur, hampering brain function. Remedies to decalcify the brain should immediately be taken.

In the largest such study ever conducted, researchers have found evidence that consciousness continues even after brain activity has ceased. This evidence of life after death came from a study led by researchers from the University of Southampton and published in the journal Resuscitation.

“Contrary to perception, death is not a specific moment but a potentially reversible process that occurs after any severe illness or accident causes the heart, lungs and brain to cease functioning,” lead researcher Dr. Sam Parnia said. “If attempts are made to reverse this process, it is referred to as ‘cardiac arrest’; however, if these attempts do not succeed it is called ‘death.’ ”

Nearly 40 percent of those interviewed recalled experiencing some form of awareness after cardiac arrest (being pronounced clinically dead).

Imam Zaid Shakir spot on about those who turn a blind eye to oppression due to their hatred of certain groups

“Do not allow your hatred for a people move you to be unjust…” Qur’an 5:8

One of the sad realities of our age is the way some Muslims are allowing their hatred of the Muslim Brotherhood to justify atrocities to be committed against innocent people. We saw this during the massacres in the aftermath of the disposal of Muhammad Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically-elected president, when innocent people were shot in the streets like rabid dogs. Many of those killed at that time were not members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Some were defenders of the democratic process, some desired to be witnesses to the history of that moment, some were women and children who were there in support of their menfolk. In the eyes of some they were all guilty, deserving of death.

It is quite scary to know you’re changing but not know who you are becoming

The process of waiting in your cocoon requires the ability to sit still in darkness without knowledge of where or when Allah will break you out. And it might seem that even prayer doesn’t quell your worry. And that may lessen your faith in prayer. But don’t lose faith in your prayers let alone give up on them. They don’t always take away the trial or make it easier. They do however serve the purpose of reinforcing the invisible protective material keeping your cocoon strong. Because metamorphosis is always the most vulnerable time in our lives. And where our heart and soul is more susceptible to damage. Don’t give up the fight. — #ConversationsWithMyself

How the British Divided Up the Arab World

The development of the modern nation states throughout the Arab world is a fascinating and heartbreaking process. 100 years ago, most Arabs were part of the Ottoman Empire/Caliphate, a large multi-ethnic state based in Istanbul. Today, a political map of the Arab world looks like a very complex jigsaw puzzle. A complex and intricate course of events in the 1910s brought about the end of the Ottomans and the rise of these new nations with borders running across the Middle East, diving Muslims from each other. While there are many different factors leading to this, the role that the British played in this was far greater than any other player in the region. Three separate agreements made conflicting promises that the British had to stand by. The result was a political mess that divided up a large part of the Muslim world.

A group of five Muslim American men included on the watchlist of suspected terrorists maintained by the United States government filed a federal complaint on Thursday this week contesting their placement.

The federal government has unjustly and disproportionately targeted American Muslims by routinely adding their names to the Terrorist Screening Database without affording them their rights to due process,”Lena Masri, a staff attorney for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), said in a statement announcing the legal action. ”The lawsuit will challenge the government’s broad and unchecked power to secretly label individuals as ‘known or suspected terrorists’ without concrete facts, but based on only a vague standard of ‘reasonable suspicion.’”

Your body is made up of around 70% water, which is involved in every bodily function. If you lack water, then your body will try to get moisture from any liquid source in your system.
