Shaykh Hasan Ali delivers a talk on the topic ‘The 6 Lives of the Soul’ at the ‘The Journey of the Soul’ Conference held at The Waterlily, Mile End.
This is a time-lapse video resulting from a 15,000 km (almost 10,000 miles) long road trip and tens of thousands of images taken along the way over the last 5 months. The journey has covered all of Norway’s 19 counties, from the far south to the Russian border in the Northeast. The Aim of this 5 minute short film is to show the variety of Norway, everything from the deep fjords in the Southwest, to the moon landscape in the North, the Aurora Borealis (Nothern Lights) and the settlements and cities around the country, both in summer and wintertime. The video shows some of the most scenic places in Norway, such as Lofoten, Senja, Helgelandskysten, Geirangerfjorden, Nærøyfjorden and Preikestolen.
Procrastination affects us all – however, the most serious procrastination is the one that keeps us away from Allah’s path and away from good deeds.
It’s interesting how people normally procrastinate to do good deeds or beneficial actions, but would rarely procrastinate when it come to bad deeds or useless tasks! It reminds me of what Imam Zaid Shakir said in our recent interview with him, he said clearly ”procrastination is from shaytaan”.
I want us to tackle a growing problem amongst many Muslims today: It’s the procrastination from reading/reciting the Quran on a daily basis. We call it procrastination, but in some cases, it can be called complete abandonment (may Allah protect us).
The war in Syria has increased the already growing numbers of immigrants crossing the Mediterranean towards Europe, often via Libya. This has resulted in more boat accidents and deaths in the Mediterranean, particularly off the Italian island of Lampedusa. We follow the story of Syrians fleeing conflict, first to Libya and then to Europe on journeys fraught with danger and turmoil.

Whilst ongoing research continues to astonish scientists, more and more Muslims are relishing new research into the blessed water they have sourced tangible benefit from for centuries.
For decades visitors of the holy land have gone as far as to bathe themselves in Zam-Zam, knowing nothing of its benefits except that it suffices for the intention with which it is used.
Allah Ta’ala says in the Noble Qur’aan: “Indeed, Muslims are brothers.”(Qur’an: Al Hujurat:10)
“The Messenger of Allah(peace be upon him) has said that whosoever helps a Muslim at the time of loss of honour and humility; will receive Help from Allah when he is in need of help.” (Hadith-Abu Dawood)
When we hear stories about people who follow their passion and make their dreams come true, we often focus on the uplifting nature and beauty of the journey. Sometimes, it even appears as if the pieces simply fall into place once someone answers the call to follow their passion. The reality however, says Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert, isn’t always as idyllic.

We stopped briefly in Makkah in order to circumambulate the Ka’bah one more time (tawaf al qudum), this time under the scorching sun.
Just like many other pilgrims, I tried to protect myself with an umbrella, but this proved utterly impossible lest you risk gouging out someone’s eye, or losing your own.
