“But whoever kills a believer intentionally – his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment.” Qur’an (Sahih international English translation)

One of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.) asked Prophet Muhammad for advice. He asked that the advice be short so that he would be able to remember it. “Don’t get angry,” said the Prophet. The same Companion repeated his request for some brief advice; each time he received the same answer from the Prophet each time, “Don’t get angry!”

Anger is a natural, universal and intuitive emotion that human beings have been given as a means of self-defense against threats. When expressed in a healthy fashion, anger can display productive and protective results, yet its uncontrolled use leads to destruction. Anger has the effect of making at least two people unhappy.
When we feel that we are not understood, that our desires cannot be attained, that our expectations have not been met, when we sense a threat or act of aggression against our values or our loved ones, we feel as though we are in an impasse; when we are obstructed from reaching an important goal, we become angry. This feeling, while alerting us to the presence of a problem, triggers feelings of concern, hatred, revenge and aggression, all in the name of protecting ourselves.
Every Soul Shall Taste Death

“The eyes surely tear,
and the heart is surely in pain,
but (with my tongue) I will only say that which is pleasing to Allah,
and we are indeed sad at being separated from you, O Ibrahim.”
— Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), upon losing his child Ibrahim at 2 years old.
Almighty Lord Allah (Subhanahu Ta ‘ala – exalted is He) says in the Quran:
“Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;” [Surah Al-Mulk, 67:1-2]

وَٱلَّذِينَ جَاهَدُواْ فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمَعَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
And they who struggle for Us, We will surely guide them to Our paths
And, indeed, Allah is surely with those who live in Ihsaan.
Surah al Ankabut: Ayah 69
The Ultimate Real and True – Allah, the majestic, says: “Those who struggle for Us…
He, the sublimely Exalted, does not elaborate on what they stuggle for – thus opening the vast scope of this verse to any struggle against one’s base self, against evil insinuations and against those who oppose goodness and morality – as long as the intent of the struggle is seeking Allah sincerely and with means that befit a struggle in Allah’s cause.
To such as these, Allah, the Exalted, promises emphatically, guidance and facilitation to His nearness.
Our great scholars and saints have explored the myriad meanings of these words. Some of these gems…
وعن الداراني: والذين جاهدوا بأن عملوا بما علموا، لنهدينهم إلى علم ما لم يعلموا.
They who struggle to act based on what they know, We will surely guide them to knowledge that they do not know. (Ad Daarani’, may Allah subhaanahu wa ta’ala shower His mercy on him)
