The Sunnah of Mental Focus
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whosoever begins the day feeling family security and good health; and possessing provision for his day is as though he possessed the whole world.” [At- Tirmidhi].
The Persuading Parents: How to Motivate Children to do Good
By: Nisaar Nadiadwala
What motivates your child to do a good deed or to stay away from evil? Most of the parents would find this difficult to answer. Our children hear a lot from everyone that back biting is forbidden in Islam but they can’t stop themselves from indulging in it. They know the virtues of praying fardh salah in the masjid but we find very few children in the masjid. What motivates them to develop habits that are marked very high by Islam? What stops them from indulging in things that spoil their character and put their akhirah in danger?
If – The door for Shaitan
By: Umm Salih
“Please wait for just five minutes, dinner is almost ready. Do eat before leaving,” requested his aunt.
“No, Jazak Allah Khair! I am already late. I’ll eat at home InshaAllah,” replied the nephew with a smile.
Only an hour had passed after Salim left that she heard her mobile phone ringing.
“Yes, yes…Oh no! Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’oon!” Nasreen was in total shock; Salim had been hit by a speeding van on the highway and had died on spot.
“If only I could have stopped him for dinner! He was right here in front of me minutes ago…Oh! How I wish!’ she thought with tears in her eyes.
Common Daily Mistakes Exploited by Shaitan
Our lives can seem like a whirlwind of hectic, chaotic, unpredictable situations and occurrences that keep us busy. Struggling to do what we need to do to maintain our obedience to Allah and surviving in a complex world at the same time can be very difficult. Yet, we all have patterns, habits and daily routines we fall into as we maintain some stability, sanity and normality to our lives. The longer one makes daily mistakes, the more harder it will get to survive Shaitan’s trappings; making his temptations difficult to resist and easier to fall into.
The various addictions Shaitan wants to trap a person can move from one level to the next. An addiction locks one into a vice, sin or foul activity. Without the ability to escape from shaitan’s trappings, we are unable to free ourselves, making us not only slaves of Shaitan, but we might also end up working to spread his foul causes and agendas.
So clearly the first step one should take is to stop Shaitan in his tracks before any of these weakening factors occur. Then turning to the Qur’an and the Sunnah will answer the strategy to avoid each pitfall.
The Little Flowers
By: Shifnas Bint Thamiem
Being in the middle of a newly bloomed garden with cool breeze early in the morning nourishes our feelings. Spending time with little kids, who look like buds waiting to blossom, gives us the same kind of refreshment. These little flowers of our ummah can pour joy and happiness into our lives. Noisy chit chats, innocent giggles, messy acts and pure smiles bring tranquility to our hearts.
Subhan Allah, kids are an amaanat from Allah . They are but a trust from Allah and we should handle them with extra care. We, as guardians, will be questioned about how we exercised our responsibilities while taking care of our amaanat.
Simple Deeds…Mountains of Rewards!
Source: blog.islamiconlineuniversity.com“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance ofAllah hearts are assured.” (Ar-Ra’d, 13:28)
With the never-ending distractions of this life and the infinite tasks filling our plates, we tend to forget the main purpose of our existence which is to worship Allah . Unfortunately, we make this life *the* priority rather than spending our precious time earning Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
The mercy of Allah is superior to anything known to the limited human mind.
He has blessed us with innumerable opportunities to erase our sins in less than sixty seconds, yet we make use of such invaluable golden opportunities very rarely. Bountiful rewards await us but we have to take the first step of remembering Allah at all times. Here are some daily actions that barely take up our time but grant us magnificent rewards. I will split them into two categories: one which concerns supplications, and the other consisting of voluntary acts.
How to read Quran with Multiple Intentions
By: Shaibu Asali
What is your intention when you recite the Qur’an? The Prophet () said,
“Actions are to be judged only by intentions and a man will have only what he intended” 1
Having great intentions was the way through which the Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them), the sincere worshipers of Allah () and the scholars sought reward from Allah () They used to have multiple intentions for one action in order to acquire a great reward for every action. Ibn Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said,
