Six ways to help lower the gaze

The eyes have desires that have a great tendency to want to be fulfilled, as if there is a gravity-like force that pulls the sight to the things we should not be looking at. Like gravity, those who resist will feel the force acting on them, while those who just go with the flow will feel little or nothing at all. Like gravity, it takes a lot of strength to escape it.
The Spirit of Modesty

Many Muslims – myself included — often forget about the spirit of Islam in matters of law and worship. For instance, do we not recite 114 times in the Qur’an, “In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful” – should this not, then, be the spirit with which all our actions and deeds are performed? Is our worship for anything other than to get closer to Allahsubhanahu wa ta`ala (exalted is He) – should this not, then, be the focus with which we perform every prayer? Is the essence of fasting not sacrifice for the sake of Allah (swt) – should we not, then, abandon extravagance when it comes to Ramadan?
“Lower their Gaze” does not Mean to Avoid Eye-contact or to not Interact

Many so-called practising Muslims are un-cooperative and unhelpful to members of the opposite gender. They keep away from each other as much a possible. In some cases, if two such people are put in a situation where they have to communicate, one looks into the sky, while the other looks into the ground in order to avoid eye contact. A person of this breed can even appear impolite and rude to a person who does not carry this mentality. They back their behaviour using what they have been told about verse 24:29-30 of the Qur’an. This is a misconception that arises purely out of a lack of wisdom and understanding.
Prophet Muhammad said: “If you guarantee me six things on your part I shall guarantee you Paradise”:
- Speak the truth when you talk
- Keep a promise when you make it
- When you are trusted with something fulfill your trust
- Avoid sexual immorality
- Lower your gaze (in modesty)
- Restrain your hands from injustice
Trying to look sexy

For everyone that’s trying to dress sexy these days. I searched in the dictionary about the word and this is the definition of sexy: “Provoking or intended to provoke sexual interest”. Let’s think about the definition of the word sex-y.
The word cut in 2 pieces already tells you what it really means. If you are trying your best to dress “sexy”, what you are actually trying to do is, to show people that you are somebody that someone else would have sexual interaction with. So you are inviting the other to raise their sexual lust in them.
