The Sunnah of Mental Focus

Everybody has, at some point of time in their lives, woken up in a state of sluggishness, , , , or felt like a dark cloud has come over their heads.  Perhaps Shaitan visited you during your sleep in a dream or otherwise, perhaps you are ill or perhaps the ebb and flow of life has balanced the abundance of good feeling with some bad.  But we, as active healthy Muslims, must take our affairs into our own hands with the knowledge and strength that Allah  SWT has blessed us with.  Our bodies are a trust that Allah SWT  has bestowed us with, which we must take care of. We must also take our Prophet ﷺ (who was strong, powerful, capable, adaptive and elegant) as the guide whom Allah SWT  sent to remind us. The main difference is that Prophet ﷺ was taught directly by Allah SWT  through the angel AS  while we are blessed in a way that is indirect (through the Qur’an and his Sunnah which has been passed down through generations.)Let us start at the beginning of the day, as that is what generally makes us or breaks us.  ‘Ubaidullah bin Mihsan Al-Ansari  RAu reported:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whosoever begins the day feeling security and good health; and possessing provision for his day is as though he possessed the whole world.”  [At- Tirmidhi].

“The hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say “This is (but) transient magic.” (1)

In this article, we are going to give information about how the miracle of the splitting of the moon, which is a clear sign of the verse of the Qur’an, occurred and seen in all authentic hadith as well as in sirah sources at the degree of Mutawatir manawi and we will also try to answer some questions that may come to the mind.

Lightning & Thunder in Islam

thunder

It is now common knowledge, as scientists teach, that THUNDER is a sound caused by the impact between electrical charges found in the clouds. Yet Muhammad had a different opinion on this matter. He claimed that thunder and the lightning are two of Allah’s angels

– exactly like Gabriel.

In the Quran there is a chapter under the title of “Thunder” ( Al Ra’ad) in which it is recorded that the thunder praises Allah. One might think that it does not mean that literally because thunder is not a living being – although, spiritually speaking, all of nature glorifies God.

The expounders of the Quran and its chief scholars, however, insist that Muhammad said that the thunder is an angel exactly like the angel Gabriel and they have no choice but to accept it as a fact.

13: 13        Nay thunder repeateth His praises and so do the angels with awe: He flingeth the loud-voiced thunderbolts and therewith He striketh whomsoever He will…  Yet these (are the men) who (dare to) dispute about Allah with the strength of His power (supreme)!

69: 5        But the Thamud they were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning!

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE QUR’AN

The Quran is the Muslim scripture, that is to say the scripture of the followers of Islam.  Islam is the religion established among the Arabs – a people until then largely confined to the Arabian Peninsula – by the Prophet Muhammad in the early seventh century.  The Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad by God through the agency of the angel Gabriel; this took place partly in Mecca, his hometown, and partly in Medina, where he succeeded in creating a state in an otherwise stateless tribal society.  The message was revealed in Arabic, the language of the people it was initially addressed to, even though the message was ultimately for the whole of humanity.  The Quran specifically mentions that Muhammad was the messenger to the whole of mankind, and that he is the last messenger to be sent.  Thus, the Quran is the final message that supersedes and reiterates the basic religion God ordained for the Jews and the Christians, as well as the Muslims.  Today, the total number of Muslims in the world is over a billion, making up almost a fifth of the world’s population.  For all Muslim communities, whatever their language and wherever they live, the Quran is their scripture.
