Imam Afroz Ali speaks about the importance of service in the religion of Islam. He stresses the importance of knowing our deen, as ‘Knowledge comes before action’. It is our manifested responsibility is to be people of Khidma (service). SO, it is the human being who can and should be the ‘distribution agency’ of Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He. This lecture was given during the SeekersHub Global, Sa’ada & Radical Middle Way UK Tour – Knowledge Without Barriers – in June, 2013.
It is widely accepted in Islam that there is not even one sin, which when committed, will take you out of the fold of Islam and cause you to be branded a kafir or disbeliever. This includes sins such as drinking alcohol, fornication, adultery, as well as other major sins. Rather it is ones disbelief, which as the name implies, causes one to become a disbeliever. An example would be saying that alcohol is allowed, and denying the verses Allah has revealed in the Quran regarding the prohibition of intoxicants. In this case the person has made halal what Allah has made haram, and rightfully deserves the title of kafir.
Let me teach you what you will do to appreciate Allah…here’s how you appreciate Allah. Make rukuh, make sajda, what is both of these things referring to? Salaat. First he complained about humanity, you’re not doing your job appreciating me, you believers, it’s your turn, you need to appreciate me. The first step in appreciating me will be…Salaat.
