Flood-hit Southeast Asia awaits more rain (Video)

Sudan floods wipe off thousands of homes

At least 184 people injured and 6,100 families near capital Khartoum and from Nile and North Kordofah states.

More than 3,000 homes have been destroyed by floods that hit almost half of Sudan’s states over Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holidays, official media said.

At least 184 people were injured and 6,100 families were displaced many of whom were from the Nile and North Kordofah states, the SUNA news agency reported on Saturday.

“Twenty-two districts in eight states were affected by flooding and heavy rain,” the report said citing the federal health ministry.

A baby was delivered at al-Aqsa hospital in Gaza last Thursday. That should not be news; babies are born all the time. What was remarkable about this birth is that the child’s mother had been killed by the Israeli military.

The delivery of this child is a testament to the professionalism and dedication of the hospital’s staff. Three days earlier, Israel attacked the hospital with tank shells. At least five Palestinians were reported dead.

Last Wednesday, Israel completely leveled al-Wafa rehabilitation and geriatric hospitalto the ground, after two weeks of missile strikes and threats of heavier attacks.
