We live in an age where judging others has become the norm and mocking people for their mistakes has become a huge pastime. While some of us might do it unintentionally, others might fall into this out of ignorance or even arrogance. Calling ourselves the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad  SAW comes with certain responsibilities. One such responsibility is correcting people’s mistakes.

Calling ourselves the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad  comes with certain responsibilities. One such responsibility is correcting people’s mistakes.

Quite often in this quest of learning the deen and implementing it in our lives, we become over judgemental of our own brothers and sisters. Instead of correcting their mistakes, we pass fatwas, turning them further away from the beauty of this deen. It is important to understand and realize that this deen is easy and beautiful, and correcting people’s mistakes should also be done in a beautiful manner.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said that you’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. However, one of the reason that genuine dialogue and finding a solution to the Gaza conflict are so elusive is because the two sides can agree on very few facts thanks to the perfection of propaganda campaigns featuring selective recall, rewriting of history, and the constant repeating of lies…

The Best of You is whoever treats His Wife Kindly

In Islam, the relationship between husband and wife is a strong bond to be nurtured with kindness, love and mercy. It is so significant that Allah Almighty mentions it in the Qur’an as one of His great signs in the world: {And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought} (Ar-Rum 30:21) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the role model for every Muslim in all aspects of life. When you read about the Prophet’s treatment of his wives, you will be amazed by the great level of care, gentleness, love and compassion he showed them.

“We watch so many movies that pictures we see from Gaza are almost the same concept, just a dead body behind a screen”

People are desensitized to pictures from Gaza’s massacres now.” Wait what? Allow me to say something. Growing up in the west, the only massacres we’ve seen are massacres in movies. We watch so many movies that pictures we see from Gaza are almost the same concept, just a dead body behind a screen. So we didn’t just get desensitized, most of us have always been desensitized. To the people who keep telling me do not share. I know and understand where you’re coming from, and I will try to take your advice. Please understand I’m currently fighting between my emotions and my professionalism. But I grew up across the street from Al-Shifa Hospital. The sirens of the ambulances used to wake us up almost every morning. My friends and I used to always play in Al-Shifa’s garden. And we’ve witnessed all these images in real life. And when you witness these things in real life, it’s a total different story than just a picture. After seeing bodies come through the doors of al-shifa doors, then I would go home to check the news, I saw absolutely nothing. The news always hid the killings in Gaza just like they are hiding many oppressions happening now in Syria, Burma and Pakistan. So I got angry, and I still am. I promised to show the world what the eyes of Gaza see everyday. Because when you see the pictures online, there is a whole story behind the picture, not just a dead body. There was love, happiness, compassion, dreams, goals that were killed when the soul left that body. Do not just look at how horrible the picture looks, the concept is far more greater than that.

I hope you understand.
