Israel’s Wall: Security Or Apartheid? (Video)

Israel says it built the separation wall for security reasons to keep Palestinians from the occupied West Bank out of Israel. So why does 85% of the wall run inside the West Bank, rather than on the border with Israel? And how has it affected Palestinian communities?

Today, there are over 500 million Muslims throughout the Indian subcontinent (India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh), making it one of the largest population centers of Muslims in the world. Since Islam first entered India, it has contributed greatly to the area and its people. Today, numerous theories about how India came to be such a largely Muslim land exist. Politically, some (such as the Hindutva movement in India) try to make Islam seem foriegn to India, by insisting it only exists because of invasions by Arab and Persian Muslims. The truth, however, is far from that.

WASHINGTON – US Muslims have been one of the nation’s biggest intelligence allies who helped in countering terrorism, a Muslim congressman set to be appointed to the House intelligence committee revealed.

“We want to see relationships where trust can be built and the relationship doesn’t feel purely transactional,” Congressman Andre Carson told USA Today on Friday, January 16.

“I’ve said time and time again that one of the biggest allies our intelligence has is the Muslim community. They know their communities better than anyone.

“I just had a meeting with the FBI, and (the National Security Agency) and Justice Department and we were talking about the efforts that the Muslim community have really contributed collectively in terms of thwarting potential attacks that you’ll never even hear about in the media.”

The Indianapolis Democrat, Carson, stressed that building relationships with the Muslim community through law enforcement is essential. Carson also criticized mosques surveillance by police, unless it’s expedient.

Palestinians in East Jerusalem live their daily lives under the brutality of Israeli occupation. However, their suffering is ignored by most of the western media. Palestinians in East Jerusalem face expulsion from the city, home demolitions, freedom of movement restrictions, surveillance, and violence from settlers and soldiers. This is in addition to illegal settlement building on their land.

It is through measures such as these – all violations of international law – that Israel is attempting to ethnically cleanse East Jerusalem of its Palestinian population. Israel’s stated goal is to establish and maintain the whole of Jerusalem as its capital.

And there is no creature on the earth or bird that flies with wings except [that they are] communities like you (Qur’an 6:38).

Animals have played significant roles within the theological, artistic, legal, ethical, and literary traditions of Muslim communities. In the Qur’an, animals—unlike people—submit naturally to God: “each one knows its own prayer and praise” (24:41) and they, together with nature, constitute natural signs (ayāt) through which humans might come to know God. “The beasts of all kinds that He scatters throughout the earth … are signs for a people who are wise” (2:164), and even the smallest gnat is a parable through which God communicates with humankind (2:26).

Documentary: Japan – Aftermath of a disaster (Video)

Source: Al Jazeera

info-pictogram1 Japan had been waiting decades for “the big one” to hit, an earthquake powerful enough to devastate the country.

Emergency services and the public were drilled in how to respond when the earth moved; thousands of kilometers of sea walls were built to protect the coast from tsunamis, the deadly after-effects of quakes out at sea.

But when the earthquake came on March 11, few would have predicted the devastation it caused.

The magnitude 9.0 quake, unleashed a tsunami so powerful, it tore through Japan’s defenses as though they were not there. The surge turned towns and cities into matchwood, killed thousands of people and caused a still-to-be resolved nuclear crisis.

Among the communities hit was the small port city of Miyako. In the days after the disaster its surviving citizens somehow had to carry on with their lives. This is their story.
