All cats deserve love. Even ones that live in the jungle and have really big teeth. Especially those ones. Ranging from really big (and kinda scary) to really small and adorable, nearly every wild cat in the world is threatened in some way. And that should make you very grumpy indeed.

 The cheetah is the world’s fastest land mammal. With acceleration that would leave most automobiles in the dust, a cheetah can go from 0 to 60 miles (96 kilometers) an hour in only three seconds. These big cats are quite nimble at high speed and can make quick and sudden turns in pursuit of prey.

 A frightened leopard bites a man on the behind after being cornered in the west Indian village of Ballarpur, Maharashtra. The animal was reportedly captured by the forest department and subsequently released into the wild. The incident comes amid a rash of human encounters with Leopards, both in Chandrapur and elsewhere in India, according to NDTV. Indian Leopard habitat is under threat from expanding agricultural land-use and the species is about to be listed is ‘vulnerable’.

But nothing is more hazardous than a capricious elephant, especially a young one with too much vigor and not enough sensibility. And then there’s the leopard – the master of secrecy. He lives in the darkness and is always ready to attack with surprise. Seven super beasts, one place, one single day. There’s no better place to follow these animals than in south Africa’s Mala-Mala Game Reserve… a very large area of wilderness, abundant with wildlife.

And through it all runs another fascinating feature – the sand river, where this story begins. It’s mid-afternoon and for the animals, this is the real start of an African day.
