Trying to look sexy

By: Soufyan Bouharat

For everyone that’s trying to dress sexy these days. I searched in the dictionary about the word and this is the definition of sexy: “Provoking or intended to provoke sexual interest”. Let’s think about the definition of the word sex-y.

The word cut in 2 pieces already tells you what it really means. If you are trying your best to dress “sexy”, what you are actually trying to do is, to show people that you are somebody that someone else would have sexual interaction with. So you are inviting the other to raise their sexual lust in them.

It is really showing off in a disgusting way if you look at it from a righteous perspective. Most people are insecure and tossy nowadays and that’s probably the cause of this behavior. A Muslim woman knows how to dress, she should be all covered except for her face. With the mindstate to please her Lord (Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala). And God (Subhana Wa Ta’ala) knows what is best for us. As I researched the definition of “sexy” I learned more about the teachings of Allah (Subhana Wa Ta’ala).

Nowadays in society and especially in the media you will see much half naked people. I want to emphasize this, so that you can become aware of your test in life. If every woman would dress modest according to the teachings of the Qur’an, the rate of the rising lust in men will go down. And it can actually save a woman’s life, since she is usually assumed to bear the responsibility of unlawful sexual encounters.

Allah (Subhana Wa Ta’ala) said in the Qur’an:

“Tell the believing men that they should reduce/lower (يغضوا) their gaze/vision and guard their private parts…” (24:30)

This also applies to the women:

“Tell the believing women that they should reduce/lower (يغضضن) their gaze/vision and guard their private parts…” (24:31)

These verses shows us that Allah (Subhana Wa Ta’ala) values women and men equally.

And sadly enough, as we can see nowadays; rapes, abortions, abuse of woman and more problems. This is again a proof that if we don’t act upon the Qur’an, the problems will unfold.

As I receive my daily life lessons I will do my best to keep writing articles like this to inspire my brothers and sisters around the world. We are on our way home.
