An Appeal to the Muslims of UK to Help the people of #Gaza…long term!
It was just a few days ago that the death toll in Gaza was reaching a hundred. Now its nearly a thousand with no real end in sight. Netanyahu’s popularity rating in Israel has gone from 57% to 82%! So it seems for the average Isreali the more people in Gaza are killed under the command of their leader the happier with him they are!
This happened two years ago. They attacked Gaza. What has changed? How about the massacre of Sabra and Shatila? That was in 1982. The world was supposed to be outraged, yet the massacres continue. The blockade of Gaza continues. What have we really done to end all this brutality? When will we wake up and realise that sending aid and going on marches will change absolutely nothing.
It may make us feel better about ourselves, and possibly ease the suffering of some for a few months IF we can get the aid through to Gaza in the first place! For sure it is better than nothing but let’s get things in perspective. We can’t even agree to celebrate Eid on the same day! How are we going to solve Gaza, and Syria and so many other crisis that are besetting our lands and people?
We have queues of chumche ready to do the bidding of any big shot that is ready to give them a bit of money, power, TV appearance or photo op, and we continue to let such people run our institutions!
We can’t present a united front. We can’t stand up for ourselves. We can’t and won’t protect victims from our own community who have suffered injustices, rather those same queues of chumche are there to condemn them without even finding out what their own “brothers” have to say! This is not only true about UK. I have experience this in Canada, India and other places! How can we Muslims possibly expect the help from Allah when we don’t even help each other?
Ironically we could really take a page out the book of the Jewish community and see how despite their numerous differences they stand united. They campaign and complain aggressively on every matter that affects them, not just when hundreds of them are getting killed! They have numerous politicians from their own people and those who are allied to them ready to speak out and stand up for their cause, even when it flies in the face of public opinion, and they spend lots of money paying them to do that!
Now take a look at our “Muslim” MP’s and so called representatives!
We moan about the BBC being biased, but it’s because the Jewish community have worked tirelessly to have people of influence where it counts.
What have we done oh Muslims?
The Jewish community stands up for itself. They support Jewish businesses and pay their rabbis proper wages so the best and most intelligent people are speaking for and defending their cause.
They invest in their children’s education and make sure they have their own schools.
Try fundraising for a Muslim school!
Then when we do have Muslim schools, how Islamic are they really? Work for a Muslim “brother” and he will work you to the bone, pay you virtually nothing and rip you off and the fact the you are supposedly Muslim “brothers” is just an excuse to take further advantage of you! This has happened too many times to too many people to be a case of a few bad apples!
We are not ready to stand up for each other, support each other in times of difficulty and are just interested in looking after our piece of the pie.
We need to manifest naseeha to Allah, His Book, His Messenger, the leaders of the people and the people. We can’t allow ourselves to besotted with our own opinions and despise everything that opposes what we happen to be on. We need husnul dhun and husnul kuluq!
We need to start by really understanding what the brotherhood of Islam means in a practical everyday sense. What unity means in practice! Yes, things are changing. There is a fresh breeze blowing through this ummah. Sadly some of the energy and zeal gets diverted to destructive and counter productive actions, but one thing the suffering of the people of Gaza is doing is making people active. Yes, it is RE-ACTIVE rather than PRO-ACTIVE, but it shows that awareness is there. Let’s take that energy and use it effectively rather than let it dissipate and fade into apathy.
If you want to help the people of Gaza really, long term, we need to think and behave and participate and become active and engaged on a totally different level. We need leadership that reflects our hopes and aspirations that go beyond just worldly trinkets! Are just going to wait for the next crisis in Gaza and repeat the same process and go through the same motions with the same inconsequential results?
In the long run sorting ourselves out will do more to help the people of Gaza, and so many others in so many other places, than whatever few pennies we can rub together to make ourselves feel better.
